American Legion Auxiliary Unit 146 Oceanside Girls State delegates returned from their week with wonderfull stories and lifelong friendships. The week began with meeting so many girls it was a bit overwhelming, but as they were grouped together they quickly fell into common ground.
Two of our delegates, Emma Thomas of Fallbrook High School and Yulanni Osinowo from Oceanside High School were “Blue Star Banner Girls”, a Girls State program for delegates with family members currently serving in the the military. They worked on a presentation and presented it at the closing ceremonies to all the Girls State citizens and faculty.
Our very own Yulanni Osinowo was presented with the Blue Star Banner $1000.00 Scholarship by Past National President of the American Legion Auxiliary and GSAF Board Member Nancy Brown Park.
April 18, 2015 the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 146 participated in the Relay 4 Life Oceanside Event. Fighting CANCER is a big deal with the “ALA 146 WARRIORS” . Our team walked for 98 miles in the 24 hours of the event. We were able to raise $3,213.86 for the American Cancer Society this year. This is our 3rd year supporting our Community and the FIGHT against cancer where we have raised, over $9,000. Each year our TEAM gets bigger and better, we will continue to support the Community by walking with the American Cancer Society in the Relay 4 LIFE – Oceanside.
