California Girls State is a leadership program of the American Legion Auxiliary designed to increase awareness and knowledge of governmental processes while learning about the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of citizenship. Delegates come away with a greater appreciation of the American Flag and of the sacrifices made by our veterans. While at Girls State, they make friends with outstanding girls from around the state and have a fun week they’ll remember for the rest of their lives. California Girls State is a program sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Department of California.

April 18, 2015 the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 146 participated in the Relay 4 Life Oceanside Event. Fighting CANCER is a big deal with the “ALA 146 WARRIORS” . Our team walked for 98 miles in the 24 hours of the event. We were able to raise $3,213.86 for the American Cancer Society this year. This is our 3rd year supporting our Community and the FIGHT against cancer where we have raised, over $9,000. Oh my , the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 146 sure had a busy 2014. Our Children and Youth program brought us to a third school at Camp Pendleton. We handed out Backpacks, Auxiliary Halloween Coloring books with crayons, countdown to Christmas ribbons, handmade toys along with lots of laughs and hugs. We have been feeding the Wounded Warriors at Camp Pendleton, adopted a military family for the year, helped sponsor many wreaths for Wreaths Across America at Miramar National Cemetery, donated to a variety of foodbanks. We have attended local volleyball tournaments with the Oceanside Starlings and gave the opportunity for anyone who wanted to sign Christmas Cards and Thank You cards to be sent to our veterans overseas. We have worked with Operation America cares and sent many LOVE boxes to those far from home. Unit 146 has attended the 911Flag Raising at El Camino High School along with serving and welcoming Veterans at the High School annual Veterans Day Program. Many members volunteer at the Oceanside VA clinic and Tri City Hospital. These are just a few things the Oceanside American Legion Auxiliary Unit 146 has been up to in 2014…..
We are always accepting new members, if you are interested in helping support our veterans and there families email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
